Other nearby parks include Shepard Park, Marr Park, Hawthorne Park, and Blind Boone Park, and they have various combinations of playgrounds, picnic areas, walking trails, nature areas, reservable gazebos, basketball courts, and frisbee golf.
The town's community center offers plenty of recreational opportunities for local residents.
The beautiful 12-acre Lion’s Lake has a dock at Lion’s Lake Park. The park features a 3 mile walking trail, nature area, picnic area, a baseball diamond and concessions, and BBQ grills. Just South of Lion’s Lake is Lake Cena, also referred to as Pertle Springs Lake. Lake Cena is owned and managed by the University of Central Missouri.
Less than two miles northwest of UCM, across the street from baseball fields and soccer fields, is Hidden Pines Golf Course, which features an elite 18-hole championship golf course that appeals to all levels of play. The golf course’s restaurant, Reflections on Pine, proudly claims the best view in Warrensburg.
Also in Warrensburg, three miles southeast of Hidden Pines, is 18-hole Mules National Golf Club. Like Hidden Pines, Mules has its own restaurant. Traditions Restaurant has an incredible patio-view overlooking the final hole of Mules National Golf Club.

Warrensburg is known as the “Home of Man’s Best Friend” because of a historic court trial in 1870 that concerned a dog named Old Drum. A lawyer passionately argued that dogs are the "best friend of man." A statue of Old Drum The Dog sits on the lawn in front of the Johnson County Courthouse. Additionally, the legend of Old Drum is honored with the Old Drum Dog Fest, which celebrates dogs and their best friends.
