Warrensburg is home to a dozen beautiful parks covering more than a combined 400 acres. There are miles of hiking trails, a skate park, dog park, 8 tennis courts, 6 playgrounds, 7 ballfields, 2 soccer fields, and the Warrensburg Community Center which features a full size gymnasium with basketball courts, a walking track, indoor aquatic facility, 7 meeting rooms, and an impressive Fitness Center. Grover Memorial Park is home to Nassif Aquatic Center, which has a lap pool, slide, diving board, spray ground, and lazy river.

Central Missouri Speedway is located 3.5 miles north of Warrensburg. Weekly racing takes place on Saturday nights from April to September. There are special events during the summer holiday weekends: Memorial Day, Independence Day, and Labor Day.

Warrensburg is known as the “Home of Man’s Best Friend” because of a historic court trial in 1870 that concerned a dog named Old Drum. A lawyer passionately argued that dogs are the "best friend of man." A statue of Old Drum The Dog sits on the lawn in front of the Johnson County Courthouse. Additionally, the legend of Old Drum is honored with the Old Drum Dog Fest, which celebrates dogs and their best friends.

University of Central Missouri

The University of Central Missouri’s 1,561-acre campus is located in the heart of Warrensburg, with many apartments close to campus. UCM is a public university established in 1871. The school offers more than 150 majors and minors and a variety of sports, including football, basketball, and baseball. They are part of NCAA Division II. Knob Noster

12 miles east of Warrensburg, in Knob Noster, a fantastic view and award-winning wines await you at Montserrat Vineyards. Nearby Knob Noster State Park is a scenic oak woodland with patches of prairie along both sides of Clearfork Creek. It’s a great place for mountain bikers, hikers and horseback riders to get some trail time. The park also features an oxbow slough, which has been officially designated as Pin Oak Slough Natural Area.

Whiteman Air Force Base

Located two miles south of Knob Noster is Whiteman Air Force Base, home of the 509th Bomb Wing. Throughout its history, the base has always been at the forefront of national defense. Beginning in 1988, massive construction created new buildings designed for B-2 operations and maintenance. The first deployment of the B-2 Advanced Technology Bomber, the Air Force’s premier weapon system, was at Whiteman AFB.
